Bregje van den Broek is studying Leisure & Events Management and has chosen to specialise in Live Music & Dance Events. From the second year onwards, students can choose a specialisation and are given projects and assignments focused on a specific sector.
Leisure & Events

Bregje is learning more about organising festivals and events at pop venues, for example. She visited Vrienden van Amstel Live, a large-scale music event that always takes place over several consecutive days at Ahoy Rotterdam.

Backstage and on stage
"During this field trip, we first received a presentation from the organisation about the concept of De Vrienden van Amstel Live and how they ensure that every year is a unique show. After this, we were given a tour, both backstage and in the auditorium and on stage. We were then given an assignment to set up a brand activation, with the group with the most original idea winning tickets to De Vrienden van Amstel Live," says Bregje.

She also says: "I found it very interesting to see how much preparatory work goes into such an event and what you have to think about when organising it. A lot of people work together to surprise visitors with their show every year."

You get a lot in return
Are you unsure about studying Leisure & Events Management and whether the Live Music & Dance Events specialisation is right for you? Bregje has this to say: ‘If you have a huge passion for everything to do with music, festivals and events, then I definitely recommend this specialisation. It can be hard work at times, but you definitely get a lot in return.’
